Valentano is a village of about 2900 inhabitants, from the typical medieval structure with tufa buildings, located on the border between Lazio and Tuscany, on the southwest slope of the volcanic crater of Volsino that surround Lake Bolsena; its territory, from the surface of about 43 sq km, divided into two districts: Villa Fontane and Felceti.
From a height of 538 meters s.l.m. discover a spectacular panorama:
Mount Amiata northwest, the chain of the Apennines and the nearest of the Volsini Hills with Lake Bolsena from the north east, while to the south and southwest on Tyrrhenian Sea with the island of Giglio vision, the promontory of 'Argentario, Montes de Castro, and the nearby Monti of Canino with the Lamone under Mount Becco.
The territory has all the characteristics of a place from the "sweetest, good and delicate", much praised since the past centuries.
From any road is reached, Valentano presents the visitor with ancient symbols of its history: the octagonal tower of the Rocca Farnese and the tall bell tower of the Collegiate Church of St. John the Evangelist, jus patronatus Casa Farnese and emblem of the "Grand Cardinal" Alessandro , nephew of Paul III, born in Valentano in 1520.
